Online Gambling in the country

The national government had previously proposed a new VAT of 19% for online gambling operators, and as of today (November 2024) it is known that the bill has been approved. This will be a heavy burden for operators as they already pay 20% on healthcare and 15-17% on gross gaming revenue (GGR).

It is predicted that player revenue will drop from around 93% to 71-75%, which will likely force players to turn to illegal platforms that are not subject to taxation. As a result, this will lead to an overall decline in revenue for the sector, not to mention that such changes could scare away foreign investors.

Over the past year, the authorities have blocked over 5,000 illegal gambling sites, and given the future conditions, the shadow market will obviously continue to grow.
