More about gambling regulation
Mexico is one of the fastest growing iGaming markets in Latin America. Along with this, the regulation of online gambling in the country is confusing. The basic laws for the gambling industry from 2004 only mention online betting, while online casinos remain in an undefined legal status. In 2021, an attempt was made to adopt new regulations for iGaming, but the initiative remained unrealized.
Despite this, online gambling is not prohibited. Currently, online operators in the country do not receive official licenses. Instead, the conditional authorization for a gambling company is a partnership with a Mexican land-based license holder.

Comment on the level of risk:
Mexico is an increasingly regulated market; the risks for foreign arbitrageurs are mainly operational and reputational. When targeting MX, it is important to avoid advertising aimed at minors and to keep an eye on local initiatives. The risk of extradition to the country is low and requests are rare.
