Spain changes regulation of iGaming sector
The Spanish regulator (DGOJ) has unveiled new measures to protect players and control the online segment. The innovations include the launch of a Centralized Monitoring System and self-exclusion registry, as well as the introduction of AI to track problem players.
At the same time, the DGOJ proposes to set uniform limits on player deposits:
- €600 per day
- €1,500 per week
- €3,000 per month
In order to exclude exceeding the limits, each deposit will be checked through the mentioned monitoring system. Operators, in turn, will be obliged to remind users of the possibility to limit deposits and playing time.
Artificial intelligence against addiction.
Another innovation will be the introduction of an AI algorithm aimed at detecting signs of gambling addiction in real time and allowing operators to intervene.
According to officials, the bill will make the country the first European regulator to introduce AI for the operational protection of players. At the same time, the authorities claim that the innovations will give Spain a mandate for the most stringent oversight of gambling licenses in Europe.
