Senegal introduced 20% tax on players' winnings
In Senegal, as of November 1, officially entered in force 20% tax on players« winnings under Law No. 17/2025. For land-based outlets the tax is valid from November 1, for online betting operators it will be effective from the middle of the month. The tax is deducted automatically on payouts, for example, from a winnings of $160 the player will receive $128, $32 will be taken by the state. Authorities said the tax will be a »contribution to the country's development." The reform is part of Prime Minister Usman Sonko's economic recovery plan.
The government is also currently drafting a new bill to introduce an additional 20% tax for operators.
