PLAYTECH [CHAPTERS 1 - 6]
A tough road to success
The story of how Israeli entrepreneur Teddy Sagi created a multi-billion dollar iGaming empire from scratch
CHAPTER 1: PRISON
This chapter tells how Teddy Sagi, a young Israeli entrepreneur, is imprisoned for securities fraud.
CHAPTER 2: START
Teddy Sagi gets out of prison and decides to enter the still then new world of online gambling. Even then, he looks further than others. His goal is not to create a product, but a gaming software that will be used by other brands. For this purpose he flies to Estonia. A country where many skilled programmers live in those years, ready to sell their labor cheaply. That's where Playtech was born.
CHAPTER 3: FIGURES
This chapter lists the key figures of the team that Teddy Sagi assembled. This is the kind of team that has earned him billions.
CHAPTER 4: IPO AND THE UIGEA SHOCK
Playtech through AIM goes for an IPO on the London Stock Exchange. And almost immediately the business is jeopardized. The UIEGA law is passed in the US, prohibiting the admission of players from the US. Most of Playtech's clients work for this market. In a matter of hours, the company is on the verge of ruin.
CHAPTER 5: WAR WITH WILLIAM HILL
The first partnership with a well-known British brand. William Hill has been taking bets offline for almost 90 years, but has no online experience. It outsources the online (casino / betting / poker) under its brand to Playtech, but demands exclusivity in return. The parties agree. But after a while, rumors reach William Hill that behind their back Playtech wants to make a similar deal with competitor Ladbrokes. British management hires former Israeli law enforcers to take control of the servers of the online joint venture in Israel. In response, the online staff goes on strike. William Hill suspects Teddy Sagi is behind it.
CHAPTER 6: ATTEMPTING TO TAKE OVER VALUENET
Teddy Sagi turns his attention to a promising traffic-generating affco. Offers investment in exchange for a stake. The parties agree. But after a while, there is a conflict.
Teddy Sagi wants the whole company and offers the partners to become employees for a salary. They refuse, saying it was an investment and a partnership. Teddy Sagi claims it's not a partnership. He gave the money not as an investment, but as a debt, and if they do not pay it back with interest in 10 days, they must give him their affcompany in full and continue to work for a salary.
