Mexico is one of the fastest growing iGaming markets in Latin America. Along with this, the regulation of online gambling in the country is confusing. The basic laws for the gambling industry from 2004 only mention online betting, while online casinos remain in an undefined legal status. In 2021, an attempt was made to adopt new regulations for iGaming, but the initiative remained unrealised.

Despite this, online gambling is not banned. Currently, online operators in the country do not receive official licences. Instead, the conditional authorisation for a gambling company is a partnership with a Mexican land-based licence holder.
